The name first appears as „Vasia” in document of Pannonhalma Abbey in 1210. Medieval Varsány was one of the most popoluos settlements of the estate of the abbey. The village was first burnt down by the Turks in 1531 and last in 1683 when the church was destroyed, too. It was rebuilt in 1725.
