Description
The Statue has been standing next to Tessedik's wattle tree for more than 100 years. The statue took the shape of deer in the studio of the sculptor Géza Maróti, first as a plaster cast. Later was cast in bronze.
Based on the accounts of the Earl's servant, we know that the Statue was ordered by Earl Pál Bolza who suprised his beloved wife Jozefa Vigyázó for her birthday. The making of the Statue was kept in secret and it was set up in the Bolza Castle garden the night prior to the illustrious day. In 1950 however, in accondance with the decision of the Municipal Council the Statue was moved to the town centre, allegedly due to architectual reasons.
