Sobor

The ancient past of the place is documented by rich findings from the Bronze age, the Iron age and from the age og the Roman Empire. After damage by Turkish troops the village was unpopulated for ten years. Soldiers of the village fought on the side of Bottyán Vak in Rákóczi’s insurrection. The village was owned by the Festetich family in the eightteenth century and later by the Batthyány family. Folk traditions are kept alive by folk dance groups, and the Sobri recruiting dance is well known... tovább all over Hungary. Descendants of famous highwayman Jóska Sobri live in the village.
