About

The name of the village on the border of Győr-Moson-Sopron and Veszprém Counties was first recorded as „Sykator” in 1392. Its Latin name denotes a „narrow alley” or „path between vineyards”. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the csesznák-domain. Sikátor was burnt down by Turks in 1542 and was restored by native inhabitants and newly arrived settlers after 1720. Forests covering the foothills of Bakony, the boundary of the village and beautiful awaits visitors and hunters year long.
