Semjén

The name of the settlement first appeared in a document dating from 1280, in the form of Semlyén. The village had been the original domain of the convention of Lelesz, donated by Boleszló, the Bishop of Vác. From the 17 century various squires held smaller parts of the estate. From the beginning of this century it has been the property of the Premonstratensian order. The Calvinist Church was founded in 1601, the present-day Calvinist church was built in 1839.
