The Szentmihály placename is related to the church of the village in honour of St. Michael archangel, the distincive Sár- anterior constituent is related to the Sárvíz. It was a settlement of the conqueror Kér tribe at the age of the Hungarian conquest. In 1324 the part of the village expanding upto the St. Michael church was the property of the chapter of Székesfehérvár. It was destroyed during the 15-year war, however from 1617 it was agin an inhabited place peopled by Calvinist Hungarians.... tovább Its population didn’t reach 1500 at the beginning of the 20th century. Nowadays there are 2475 people living here. Monument-like buildings are the Reformed church of medieval origin and the Zichy-Szerényi castle.
