Around itt here are several gravel-pit lakes, where digging is still in operation.According to some opinions, the name of the village originates either from some Slavic(Czech) name(Ciecc, Checha) or comes from an old version erstwhile version of the Hungarian noun meaning measles or pox.The village was the property of... tovább y of Bán Ernye’s son, later by the Panyi family, but it changed hands frequently (Aszalay, Zsaluzsányi, Perényi, Kapy, Herencsényi families) later on as well. During the Turkish occupation, like many other villages, it was destroyed, but soon rebuilt. In the 17th century the village was mainly Calvinist; it was owned by the Fáy and the Szirmay families, and later by the Dőry and the Patay families.
