Magyarpolány is situated in the forests of Bakony 7 km from Ajka to East and it has about 1300 inhabitants. The village preserved its old structure and image. The folk art relic farmhouses which won Europe Nostra award give a rural feeling to the whole village. The village was firstly mentioned in 1162 by certification. Originally the name of this village was Polyán which is a Slav originated word its meaning is “agrarians”. The differential attribute “magyar” were given to it after Németpolány... tovább ny was founded in 1752. In the Turkish time the settlement became empty and only in 1603 became inhabited again.
