About

Village with 559 inhabitants north of Salgótarján, on the banks of river Ipoly. In Csapás valley, 2 km from the village, one of the most valuable paleontological sites of Europe has become a strictly protected nature conservation area. Fossilized pine trees, shark teeth, footmarks of animals that lived 25-30 million years ago were found here. The finds are displayed in exhibition halls built for the protection of the site.
