Address: 1014 Budapest, Szent György tér 1-2.

Description

The Sándor Palace was commissioned and constructed for Count Vince Sándor in 1806. There is still some controversy, as to whether it was designed by famous architect Mihály Pollack (architect of the National Museum) or Johann Aman of Vienna. It has housed ministers and prime ministers and is today the permanent residence of the president of the Republic of Hungary. The changing of the guard at the Alexander palace can be seen from Spring until Autumn, every hour on the hour, between 9am and 5pm. Once a month, there is a special guard change which takes place to music. (at noon on the last Saturday of the month)
