The village Barage is south of Dunaújváros situated near the Danube. It has a population of 3400. It has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In the age of the Roman Empire a military post called Annamatia stood here, which was part of the limes system alongside the Danube. Next to the road (the former limes road) there is a Roman cemetery, some remains of watch-towers and three milestones. The relics found at the border of the village are also significant. Here the remains of a church from... tovább the age of the Arpads and a surrounding cemetery have been excavated. The village has many touristic resources. A holiday resort has been built on the land projecting into the Danube. Its famous Fishermen's Inn has a unique atmosphere. It offers a wide range of delicious food such as fish soup cooked in a stew-pot on an open fire or carp stewed with paprika.
