The village lies at the foot of the Bakony hills, by the Gerence creek, and has a population of about 300. The Kőris Mountain crowns the surrounding hills (709 m), and this is where the romantic Gerence valley begins. The surrounding area is excellent for hunting. The Baroque style Roman Catholic church was built in 1730 for the Cistercian order. It was restored in 1898 in Neo-Romanesque style. The Roman Catholic presbytery was built around 1800 in Baroque style.
