Alsóbogát is located in Somogy County 23 km north of Kaposvár the seat of Somogy County. It is accessible in the Kaposvár - Fonyód road in a four-km interconnecting road starting at Somogyjád. The village is called after Bogát "harka". In the middle age Alsóbogát was a big village; it is indicated by the ceramic objects having been found in approximately 20 ha area. Alsóbogát administratively is a part of Somogyjád. After the change of the regime in 1990 it was a part of village Edde. Since the... tovább e election in 1994 it has been an independent village with independent local government. It creates an administrative association with Somogyjád and Edde; the centre is Somogyjád. Alsóbogát became independent village in 1994.
