Acsalag is situated in the southwestern part of Hanság, 10 km far from Csorna. It was founded in the 17th century by the Nádasdy family on land reclaimed from the Hanság marshland. Later, it became the property of the Eszterházy family. It was time, when people could reach the village only with boat, because it was enclosed from the neighbourhood villages. Now the village has a population of 529 persons. The cycle track of Hanság lead through the village, which attracts lot of tourists.
